A kitchen project can solve the wrong problem beautifully.
You can spend a lot of money and still end up with a kitchen that does not work any better.
Start with the problem.
Is the kitchen simply dated?
Is the layout frustrating?
Is storage the issue?
Are the cabinets failing?
Are you preparing to sell, or planning to stay for years?
Those answers help determine whether you may need a refresh or a full remodel.
A refresh can improve appearance without rebuilding the room. Paint, hardware, counters, lighting, flooring, or a few targeted changes may be enough.
A full remodel becomes a different conversation when the layout, storage, cabinetry, plumbing, or electrical no longer work for the space.
For sellers, more expensive does not automatically mean more valuable. A clean, consistent, functional kitchen may do more for the sale than a highly personal renovation.
For homeowners staying long term, daily function and enjoyment may justify doing more.
For buyers, a dated kitchen is not automatically a full-remodel budget. First determine what truly needs to change.
The best project is the one that solves the actual problem without creating a bigger one for the budget, timeline, or rest of the house.
